Officers Investigate Shooting Incident at Jonesboro Residence
Officers with the Jonesboro Police Department are currently gathering details and conducting interviews concerning a shooting incident which injured two individuals at a residence on Amberwood Cove shortly before noon today.
At approximately 11:45 a.m. this morning, the Jonesboro Central Dispatch received a call of a male subject armed with a handgun who was attempting to force his way into a residence located at 801 Amberwood Cove. According to the caller, the suspect fired several rounds through the front door of the residence, possibly injuring a female victim inside.
Officers and emergency medical personnel were then dispatched to the house and arrived on the scene shortly afterwards. Once there, officers found the male subject, later identified as 20 year-old Joshua M. Calamese of 512 Meadowbrook in Jonesboro, lying on the front porch of the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Officers also located the occupant of the residence, 41 year-old Kristen McAlpin, who had suffered a wound to the leg. At this time, investigators believe Mr. Calamese shot through the front door striking Ms. McAlpin and then shot himself with the handgun. It is not known if Ms. McAlpin was struck by a bullet or possibly flying debris.
At this time, investigators believe that a third person present at the residence, Kymberlee McAlpin, and Mr. Calamese have a child in common. Though they did not uncover any prior incidents of this nature, detectives believe the shooting was related to an ongoing domestic argument involving the two.
Both individuals were transported to separate local hospitals for treatment. The male subject suffered a serious injury and the female subject was treated for a non-life threatening injury to the leg and later released.
